Best Electric Golf Push Carts: We Tested 4 and Picked a Winner
Axglo e5 vs. CaddyTrek R4 vs. Gozo vs. Axglo e3: My hands-on electric golf push cart comparison.
Four Electric Golf Push Carts. One Big Showdown.
I love walking the golf course. It’s great exercise, it allows me to appreciate the surroundings, and there’s something special about making your way from shot to shot without climbing into a riding cart.
What I don’t particularly enjoy is hauling a heavy golf bag around for 18 holes.
That’s why electric golf push carts have become one of my favorite categories of golf equipment to review.
Over the past several years, I’ve had the opportunity to test a variety of these remarkable machines. Some follow you automatically. Others operate by remote control. And a few offer technology that would have seemed almost impossible not that long ago.
But which one is actually the best?
To find out, I brought together four electric golf push carts for our first-ever Michigan Golf Live Product Showdown: the Axglo e5, CaddyTrek R4, Gozo and Axglo e3.
After testing their performance on the golf course, I rated each cart in five important categories. And when the final scores were added up, the difference between first and second place was just one point.
Here’s how it happened.

How I Tested and Rated the Four Carts
My goal wasn’t to compare manufacturer specifications or repeat marketing promises. I wanted to evaluate how these carts actually performed during my hands-on testing.
I used five categories:
- Follow Me performance
- Remote control and operating modes
- Features and versatility
- Stability and hill performance
- Setup and instructions
Each category was worth 10 points, for a possible total of 50.
There’s one important exception. The Axglo e3 is a remote-control cart without Follow Me technology, so I scored it separately on the four applicable categories, for a maximum of 40 points.
That distinction matters. The e3 wasn’t designed to compete directly with the more expensive autonomous models, and I wasn’t about to penalize it for a feature it doesn’t claim to offer.

Follow Me Performance: The Feature That Changes Everything
If you’ve never experienced a golf cart following you down the fairway, you’re missing one of the most enjoyable developments in walking golf.
But the precision of that technology matters.
The Axglo e5 has long been a personal favorite of mine, and its Follow Me performance is a big reason why. I found its tracking smooth and predictable, particularly in situations where maintaining a precise path is important.
Think about approaching a bridge or walking near a bunker. That’s when you really appreciate a cart that stays where you expect it to be.
The CaddyTrek R4 offers a fascinating alternative. Its camera-based Follow Me system doesn’t require you to carry or wear a remote. That freedom is a legitimate advantage.
During our testing, though, the R4 occasionally became interested in following a nearby production assistant rather than me. It was a reminder that sophisticated technology still requires some awareness from the golfer.
The Gozo also offers Follow Me capability, but I noticed more side-to-side drifting than with the e5. That made me less comfortable in tighter areas.
My scores: Axglo e5 9/10, CaddyTrek R4 9/10, Gozo 7/10.
Remote Control and Operating Modes: How Much Flexibility Do You Need?
Not every golfer wants to use Follow Me mode all the time. Sometimes you want to send the cart ahead, control it remotely, or simply let it travel at a steady pace.
The Axglo e5 impressed me with its five operating modes and the flexibility they provide.
The CaddyTrek R4 has an especially interesting feature called March Ahead, which allows the cart to travel in front of you while responding to your position and gestures.
That’s a pretty remarkable concept, although I did experience a moment when the cart didn’t immediately respond to a stopping gesture. It’s technology worth learning before using it around obstacles.
Gozo offers several useful operating options, but I found the overall experience less refined.
And then there’s the Axglo e3, which really shines in this category.
Because the e3 is built around remote-control operation rather than Follow Me technology, its controls are central to the experience. I found them excellent.
In fact, the e3 earned a perfect score.
My scores: Axglo e3 10/10, Axglo e5 9/10, CaddyTrek R4 8/10, Gozo 7/10.

Features and Versatility: The Details That Separate the Contenders
When you’re spending serious money on an electric golf push cart, you want more than a motor and four wheels.
You want thoughtful design, useful accessories, dependable controls and features that make walking the course more enjoyable.
The CaddyTrek R4 impressed me with its technology, smartphone app capabilities and available accessories.
The Axglo e3 also performed extremely well, proving that a cart doesn’t need Follow Me technology to be versatile.
The Axglo e5 offers an excellent combination of functionality and operating choices, although I gave the R4 and e3 a slight edge in this particular category.
Gozo delivers useful features, but I didn’t find its overall package as compelling as the others.
My scores: CaddyTrek R4 9/10, Axglo e3 9/10, Axglo e5 8/10, Gozo 7/10.
Stability and Hills: Real Golf Courses Aren’t Flat
A cart can look impressive in a showroom, but what happens when you take it onto a hilly golf course?
That’s one of the most important questions I ask during any electric golf push cart review.
The Axglo e5, CaddyTrek R4 and Axglo e3 all demonstrated strong stability and hill performance during my testing.
I appreciated the R4’s stabilizing design, the e5’s dependable handling, and the e3’s confidence-inspiring performance despite its simpler operating concept.
Gozo wasn’t quite as convincing, particularly when I considered the additional movement I had observed in its Follow Me operation.
My scores: Axglo e5 9/10, CaddyTrek R4 9/10, Axglo e3 9/10, Gozo 7/10.
Setup and Instructions: The Experience Starts Before the First Tee
One thing I’ve learned from reviewing golf equipment is that a complicated setup can sour your opinion of a product before you’ve even used it.
Fortunately, several of these carts make a very good first impression.
The Axglo e3 was particularly easy to get ready, earning another perfect 10.
The Axglo e5 also impressed me with its straightforward setup and clear operation.
CaddyTrek provides helpful instructional resources, including QR-code tutorials that walk you through the R4’s technology. I recommend taking the time to review them.
Gozo required a little more patience. I didn’t find its folding and locking mechanism quite as intuitive, and the written instructions could have been more helpful.
Still, once I understood the process, it was manageable.
My scores: Axglo e3 10/10, Axglo e5 9/10, CaddyTrek R4 8/10, Gozo 8/10.
Which Electric Golf Push Cart Offers the Best Value?
This is where I encourage golfers to think carefully about what they actually want.
If Follow Me technology is your priority, the Axglo e5 and CaddyTrek R4 deserve a very close look.
If camera-based tracking without a wearable remote sounds especially appealing, the R4 has a distinctive advantage.
If you want excellent remote-control operation without paying for autonomous features you won’t use, the Axglo e3 may be the smartest fit.
Gozo offers some interesting capabilities, but its lower performance scores make it harder for me to recommend ahead of the other options.

Final Rankings: Which Electric Golf Push Cart Wins?
After all five categories, the results were remarkably close at the top.
| Finish | Electric Golf Push Cart | Final Score |
|---|---|---|
| 1st | Axglo e5 | 44/50 |
| 2nd | CaddyTrek R4 | 43/50 |
| 3rd | Gozo | 36/50 |
The Axglo e5 wins the Michigan Golf Live Product Showdown by just one point!
That margin says a lot about the quality of the competition.
The CaddyTrek R4 is an impressive piece of equipment, and its innovative camera-based technology will appeal to many golfers.
But for me, the e5’s combination of precise Follow Me performance, versatility, stability and ease of use gave it the narrow overall victory.
It remains my personal favorite among the autonomous electric golf push carts I’ve tested.

Special Recognition: The Axglo e3
I want to emphasize something important.
The Axglo e3 did not finish fourth.
It competes in a different category because it doesn’t include Follow Me technology.
Across the four categories that apply to it, the e3 earned an outstanding 38 out of 40 points, including perfect scores for remote control and setup.
That’s an impressive performance.
If you’re a golfer who enjoys walking but doesn’t necessarily want a cart following you around the course, I think the e3 deserves serious consideration.
Sometimes the best equipment isn’t the product with the most technology. It’s the one that delivers exactly what you need.
My Final Recommendation
I’ve spent enough time reviewing golf equipment to know that there’s rarely a perfect product for everyone.
The Axglo e5 is my overall winner among these Follow Me carts, but the CaddyTrek R4 is close enough that your personal preferences could easily make it your favorite.
The Axglo e3 stands out as an excellent remote-only alternative.
And Gozo demonstrates why hands-on comparisons matter: similar-looking features don’t always deliver identical results.
If you’re considering an electric golf push cart, my advice is simple: decide which operating features matter most to you, watch the demonstrations, and pay attention to how each cart performs in real-world situations.
