The dreamers, innovators, and brilliant concepts that shape the golf world are on display at the 2026 PGA Merchandise Show – but not every idea is a good one.
For every successful concept like Ayr Support, Super Speed Golf or Axglo Electric Push Carts, there are dozens and dozens of ideas that stand zero chance of ending up as part of your golf gear. That’s not a critique intended to demean or shame the inventor. Those creative minds have spent countless hours, dollars, mental well-being, and (hopefully not) relationships because of a single focus on whatever they’re trying to develop in the garage and bring to the world.
Sadly, most of the time those ideas need to stay in the garage and never come out. In fact, I’ve been saying for years that so many innovators would be better served to have a caring friend pull them aside and say, “Bill, this is a super impressive effort but it’s time to pull the plug before this thing bankrupts you.”
So as you join me on this walk through the New Product Zone at the 2026 PGA Merchandise Show, know that I hope for the very best for every inventor…but some of these ideas have as much chance at success as I do of playing in the Masters.
